The Girl In The Mirror
I look in the mirror and see my worst fear.
The pain
The suffering
It’s no longer surreal
I put my needs last
I help others first
When I look in the mirror I’m consumed by rage
I see a sad girl
In a dark lonely world
She’s vulnerable
She’s weak
She’s me
I look in the mirror and want to change
I see fat
And disgust
And a babyface
I see stretchmarks
And scars
And pure shame
Will anyone ever know my name?
Somedays I think I’ll be on the news
As the girl who died because she was given a rotten pair of shoes to walk in
She hated her life
So she ended it one fateful night
She looked in the mirror and slid the knife.
The pain
The suffering
It’s no longer surreal
I put my needs last
I help others first
When I look in the mirror I’m consumed by rage
I see a sad girl
In a dark lonely world
She’s vulnerable
She’s weak
She’s me
I look in the mirror and want to change
I see fat
And disgust
And a babyface
I see stretchmarks
And scars
And pure shame
Will anyone ever know my name?
Somedays I think I’ll be on the news
As the girl who died because she was given a rotten pair of shoes to walk in
She hated her life
So she ended it one fateful night
She looked in the mirror and slid the knife.
