From Eden
The insurmountable contradiction
between my adolescence and your
authority fluently matured. Yearning
multiplied and Stoicism dissipated
until it destroyed the historic peace
of distance between us. Impervious
to fate, or perhaps not caring either
way, the shameless obstinacy of a
Methuselah prevailed. We eschewed
ignorance, braved our escape into the
archives of Eros, forgoing Ariadne's
Thread, having no fear of not finding
our way home from earthen knowledge.
Each chromatic scale of feeling resembled
a crumbling cavern darkening the tunnel
behind us. We caught each other with
our breath and I became a crumbling
servant's quarters caught in a mudslide
against the Master's house. The entire
weight of disobedience lightened the
the deeper we ran until lingering in a
melodiously off-key tune to the only
beauty we knew: discovery. Lifetimes
seem like yesterday and we're still
digging our way southward, having
survived a ne phis ultra of a bygone
era and sin against the holy edict of an
Esprit de corps of divinity: Only dead gods
are gods forever; Unless, we're not.
