Beryl was a Singer

 She could sing anything
And I mean anything
Opera and classical
Traditional and experimental jazz
The best of Broadway show tunes
Rock and roll to jive to
Country and also western
From disco to techno and garage
From reggae to punk and bangra
Her favourite was random karaoke
As I said, she could sing anything
You name it, she could sing it
Unfortunately badly
Very, very badly
She had a voice that could turn milk sour
She sung like nails scratching down a chalkboard
Screeching wildly like an owl with hemorrhoids
More pathetic than the worst strangled cat’s choir

I felt sorry for her pet parrot
He had heard it all
He had had enough
He didn’t even have fingers
To stick in each ear
He had already given up
Trying to drown her out
With his own inane screeching
He had run out of ideas
So he shot her
