Only the Lonely
My breath grows short when you draw near to me
My mind fills with thoughts of you and I together
In a loving embrace
And the butterflies begin to rise inside of my body
To dance in my belly and quickly make it hard to see
It’s the same old reaction to having you come close
As my mouth turns to cotton I cannot say the words
That I long to say
I love you but you’ve turned your back and walked away
Perhaps another time I’ll grow less timid
And my heart will show itself
My mind fills with thoughts of you and I together
In a loving embrace
And the butterflies begin to rise inside of my body
To dance in my belly and quickly make it hard to see
It’s the same old reaction to having you come close
As my mouth turns to cotton I cannot say the words
That I long to say
I love you but you’ve turned your back and walked away
Perhaps another time I’ll grow less timid
And my heart will show itself
