Beauty Queen

As a child you were taught to wear pretty white dresses,
Speak like a lady,
Learn about beauty and dream of being like every girl in the magazines.
You'd wear your hair like a doll as it was braided in pigtails with lovely, silky ribbons, and be classy.
Perfection was the key to being perfectly beautiful,
It was your biggest obsession.
Mother, coached you
Mother, never wanted an ugly baby
Mother, demanded you to be the best.
She'd always say " a man will only love you for your body",
You never really questioned why she thought that way you just obeyed and did what you were told.
You wondered why was she so cold as she'd bully you into submission.
Make you enter every competition there was,
You won many trophies as you were the beauty queen.
A pretty girl who was taught silence was wise,
Your thighs must be thin,
Taught to win and be beautiful.
As the years go by you become yourself,
A young and beautiful woman who knew nothing more than beauty.
Smart, but you never let it show because you already know " a man will only love you for your body".
Your career allows you to be known for only your looks.
You wear the best designer clothes,
Versace, Doce & Gabana, Channel
A girl like you would never be caught dead in dread.
You stuck up your nose at those who can't afford the best clothes.
People stand by and admire you as they are in awe and wanting to be just like you, but secretly you're just another tragedy.
This is the sad tale of a beauty queen.
