ghosts in the headlights
Headlights coming up fast
could almost believe heaven
is waiting on the other side
if I wasn’t so high
running from the things
that’ll bring me glory
if only I could stick around
to find the upside to this loneliness
Cause I want to be there
at the end with you
like the moment of our deaths
was predestined to explode
into something beautiful
This life isn’t worth much without you
your smile my saviour on the dark days
when there is no silver lining
to the midnight crows
picking out my eyes from the inside
And no one tells you love is like this
that it’s a heart attack on a black-ice high-way
on a desert night
some place far from home
and if you could just learn
to steer through the fear
there’s dawn at the end of the white line
and you might find your way
to somewhere you belong
But this dark sky haven
offers no solitude tonight
waiting for a dead phone to ring
where ghosts don’t reside
in this temporary lifetime
and I’m scared to sleep
because I’m scared of dreaming
the things no psychic will say
Headlights coming up fast
could almost believe heaven
is waiting on the other side
if I wasn’t so high
running from the things
that’ll bring me glory
if only I could stick around
to find the upside to this loneliness
without you
It’s time to wake up
