Night Dance
Angela dances alone in the night
As the shadows start slowly to slip away
Her window is open to let in the breeze
That tousles her hair in the faint growing light
As slow as a river that ambles along with no rain
The music plays just in her head
She dreams of a man that once danced her the night through
Who whispered he loved and danced away all her pain
Now the shadows have crept away from the new day
The breeze begins to warm up in the light
Another hot day has begun as the birds stir awake
Angela hums to her mind’s inner music and prays
A light sheen of sweat appears on her forehead
And the music inside her fades far away
A tear trickles down from her eyes still closed
For a lover who’s long cold and dead
