Without You
I thought I missed you;
but once I saw you
I knew it was true.
Because without you
there's no sunshine,
the world is blue.
I keep telling myself
to forget about you.
To quit being consumed
with what will never be.
Overwhelming evidence
will never convince me,
for in your eyes I see
signs to the contrary.
Maybe what I see
is not really there,
but that is a conclusion
my heart could not bare.
So until I get the courage
to tell you how I feel.
That will be the reality with
which I will deal,

It makes me think of all the women across the world who shed tears of despair on the news of Clark Gable's death. The longing for the unreachable is a human frailty that defeats all attempts at commonsense. Well written.
