Maze
With shoulders far too narrow
to carry this weight, I try to vacate.
Palms are sweaty.
Knuckles, and fingers are swollen;
locked into place to hold the one I have chosen.
A bit too far to turn back now.
A bit too far to imagine
sweet escape.
I'm lost amidst the maze.
I'm locked inside love's gate.
How am I to move?
Suffocating with walls closing in,
I call your name.
Echoes replacing responses.
All I hear is your name.
Desperation,
adoration,
hands that hold too tightly
onto borrowed things.
Spare me,
I am only a man.
Release me from your command.
This land is full of false pretenses,
and I have no room, nor want,
to horde these second chances.
to carry this weight, I try to vacate.
Palms are sweaty.
Knuckles, and fingers are swollen;
locked into place to hold the one I have chosen.
A bit too far to turn back now.
A bit too far to imagine
sweet escape.
I'm lost amidst the maze.
