The Unknown
Down the corridor
Darkness staring me in the face
With an unseen yet felt sneer
Fears spawned from my mind
And springing up in beads
Adorning my brow
As if I were pulling a ball and chain
With the clink and drag echoing off the walls
An accent of the lonely silence
Interrupted by voices fading in and out
And I am deliriously unable
To discern between the ones in my head
And the ones in the darkness
Trudging onward
Ever onward
Hopeful and hopeless all at once
Longing for sunshine
But finding comfort in the shadows
Like an old familiar pair of arms
That I snuggle into when I'm feeling alone
Darkness staring me in the face
With an unseen yet felt sneer
Fears spawned from my mind
And springing up in beads
Adorning my brow
As if I were pulling a ball and chain
With the clink and drag echoing off the walls
An accent of the lonely silence
Interrupted by voices fading in and out
And I am deliriously unable
To discern between the ones in my head
And the ones in the darkness
Trudging onward
Ever onward
Hopeful and hopeless all at once
Longing for sunshine
But finding comfort in the shadows
Like an old familiar pair of arms
That I snuggle into when I'm feeling alone
