How to Blow Minds and Lose Lovers
Permeate nature's membrane
in the wide blue sheath
out of the grey,
The wind carries in smoke
from wildfires, North,
the stagnant hint
of wildweeds in the air.
This day's got me feelin'
like novacaine
with a bump of cocaine
but it's still hard to feel alive
in this neck'a the woods-
ironic I wrap my hand
around the trachea of today
and strangle life out
like wringing a towel
or milking a cow.
Continue past the end of the pines
and swandive off the cliffside.
Teach me to fly
with those broken bony wings.
I can't promise much,
and I may follow,
but freefalling makes the spirit grow.
A child stood by the edge,
and walked away before you fell.
The child sees
what we need to see,
This child knows
what we need to know.
I disappeared for days, weeks, months,
and when I return they say;
Where've you been? Where've you gone?
I smile like I know a secret,
tell em';
I've been here all along
in the wide blue sheath
out of the grey,
The wind carries in smoke
from wildfires, North,
the stagnant hint
of wildweeds in the air.
This day's got me feelin'
like novacaine
with a bump of cocaine
but it's still hard to feel alive
in this neck'a the woods-
ironic I wrap my hand
around the trachea of today
and strangle life out
like wringing a towel
or milking a cow.
Continue past the end of the pines
and swandive off the cliffside.
Teach me to fly
with those broken bony wings.
I can't promise much,
and I may follow,
but freefalling makes the spirit grow.

and walked away before you fell.
The child sees
what we need to see,
This child knows
