Soul Gaze
I watch her from a distance fair,
This angel ‘fore my eyes.
Her words, a visage of despairing
Life and hushed dark sighs.
She aches, she bleeds, I feel her need—
It cuts into my soul…
That I can never intercede—
I cannot make her whole.
A brimming of emotions, full.
A conflagration set.
I pray for her some miracle
In her future is set.
That all she views as her weakness
She’ll someday see as strength.
That she’ll love herself, through meekness,
As I’ve grown to at length.
The world is hers for the taking,
She need not hold this shame…
Grown so used to a heart breaking
She holds herself the blame.
Oh God above, remove these pains
From her, if for my peace.
Show her that beauty, held in chains,
Only she can release.
