A Puzzlement
If we really care about children
why do we always send them off to war?
if we really care about their education
why do we let the school in the hood crumble?
if we really care about sustainability
why do we fill our foods with GMOs?
if we really care about the planet
why are we doing our best to exhaust its resources?
if we embrace individuality
why do we raise automotrons who refuse to question authority?
if we crave knowledge and understanding
why do we fill the airwaves with gossip and innuendo?
If we embrace peace
why do we invent new ways to kill?
We can give answers
but are we ready to implement solutions?
why do we always send them off to war?
if we really care about their education
why do we let the school in the hood crumble?
if we really care about sustainability

Great write my friend; reminds me of the kind of love and brilliance of a Cat Stephens strength of write... AS I Believe Julian Lennon said, Man kind is the only animal that pays to live on this planet...

someone who like music can quote John Lennon; but someone who LOVES music quotes Julian! Thanks for the positive regard!

the key is "first do no harm" but we are so far beyond that we depend on pitiful damage control & can't seem to stick with that really...
"We can give answers
but are we ready to implement
solutions? "
... dear god no, we're nowhere near that. as a species we are intolerant, greedy & self indulgent. often times i think communicable diseases is the universe's way of keeping us in check, reminding us that we are a speck in the great scheme of things
anyhoooos lol i'll be on about it for days so i'll hush now
*
two itsy bitsy things...
[s1 l1] i would suggest changing pour to poor
&
[s5 l2] automatons might work better than automotrons
... just suggestions, just imho, as usual you're quite welcome to tell me to keep my nose out lol and i shan't be the least bit offended
*
a thought provoking read, jazzman, much enjoyed
xo

your changes are always welcomed! "Pour" was intended to be "our" but was deleted. "Automotrons" was the result of me being lazy and going with the first spelling suggested via spell check.
I still believe, to quote Led Zep, "there is still time to change the road" we are on.

Sadly the only solutions that will fly , is if it can turn a buck.
if not, it's just left in the voices of the enraged and passionate.
Always heart found in your Fine Writes Jazz!!!

The profiters can be persuaded to that their survival trumps growing bank accounts. (still naive I guess) the passionate can be talked to as well. The enraged---I am not so sure...
Always good to get some words from my brother!

well I have been mean and grumpy for a bit...bronchitis revisited, like "my old friend" in The Sounds Of Silence!

Ahhh, JAZZMANOR, luv ~ :-*
I remember a conversation my aunt and I had about this topic wherein she indicated this fascinating tidbit that there is some evidence linking the health of the wealthiest in a country to the poorest in a country, so if the poor are well cared for, the wealthier are also healthier.
Conversely, when the poor are uncared for the health of the wealthy suffers as well. This so speaks to what you are saying here and addresses much of it for without education and healthy food, peace, compassion, resources, and critical thinking, how can we begin to effect the needed change to ensure better health for all?
And, luv, here we are, back to the fundamental interconnectedness of all things... :-*
You pose excellent food for thought and sparks for serious change, luv.
