Destiny
I don't believe
It is anybody's
Destiny
To be sad OR happy
But rather, instead,
To simply be
And try to experience everything;
To interact with each other,
And argue or agree
To live each day
And take time to see,
To learn how to listen,
And practice how to breathe,
To watch a seed form into a tree,
To climb and from its branches swing
When it's finally tall and green,
To wander the deserts,
To explore the seas,
To stand up for each other's
Right to be free,
To take time to write,
To make time to read,
To struggle to keep at bay
What makes life too heavy,
To fight to hold onto
What we want and need;
The little things
That make life sweet,
To put in the work to get better and grow,
To, one by one, pull the weeds from our souls,
To look inside and dig down deep,
To learn how to love
Or to hate and be mean.
To learn how to BE loved,
To let go of greed.
To be everything
Or nothing
Or something
In between.
Our choices
Form the voices
Of our destinies.
