So You Think You're In Love?
Forgive me if I laugh...
You're how old now?
Early teens? Late Teens?
Darling your brain
Isn't even done growing
You're desperate?
Desperate for what exactly?
To be hurt too early?
To find that no one is perfect?
That love is not a fairytale?
Forgive me as I sigh...
I sigh at how silly you seem to me
I sigh because I was once you
You say you adore them
That no one is like them
That they treat you like a God or a princess
I just can't help but roll my eyes
Can't you see? That they aren't even ready?
They are just like you, entirely too young
Live life before you destroy it with this desire
This desire to connect on a level you can't comprehend
Leave love for when you are older
When you know more about how the world works
Enter love with your eyes wide open
And trust me you will thank me at that time
I understand your pain...I know how it is
I understand how hard it is to feel alone
But just trust someone who has been there
It is better to not know what you are missing
Then to have a taste of something at too young of age
I'm not saying that love is wrong or that it is for the old
I am just saying give your heart a chance to grow
You're young and your emotions are raw
You are able to throw yourself into anything fully
But if you do this without thought then you are bound
To be flooded with emotions you have never known before
I also suggest you don't read love stories and fairytales
They give you a false base to stand upon
Instead read the history of how lovers courted years
Before a first kiss, before they dared to touch
Please listen to this, listen to me
Love is not for people with hearts still growing
Be content with the love given by a caring adult
Not by some grimy or sweet smelling teenager...
