A summers Sonnet
The sun rises high upon this summer day,
The sky fills with clouds of contentments gray,
The air hangs thick with the sounds of blue jays,
The breeze is mellow and fights the days fray,
The grasses of the meadow lightly sway,
The hours of the day just love to slip away,
Pa sits on the porch whittlin’ away,
Ma’s a-cookin while a-sippin cabernet,
lil’ sister’s a comin’ with the tea tray,
lil’ brother’s a playin’ away with croquet,
Mammie’s a-bakin’ a good cheese souffle,
“A good summers day” my Papa would say,
The cats slink down the hot tarmac driveway,
The life we live until the sun dies away.
