Would be artist
Would that I were an artist
I could draw your features from memory
It would be easy
Yours is the face imprinted on the inside of my eyelids
I see you every time I close my eyes
And when I open them too
When my eyes glaze over
And I tune out the sights and sounds of this mundane existence
It is only to dwell on perfection
When my mind drifts, it is you that it wanders to
Memorizing every feature, every curve, the depth of your eyes
The phenomenon that is your smile.
The sight of you has been seared into my memory
Burned into my brain, engraved in my mind
Would that I were an artist....
