remembering a hero
You walk a road now that no one can see,
with your heart on your sleeve smiling down on me.
You had a zero on your back but you were my hero.
You made me feel like number one.
I just want the chance to tell you what you did for me.
I hope you're happy,
and hopefully when the sorrow goes away and my spirit fades,
you'll drink with me by the gates like i'd always dreamed.
I can't say i'm completely at piece,
but I still hear your words each day.
I repeat "I'm sorry" with each word you speak,
and write you down as a life I could've saved.
You did more for me then my family,
know that I miss you more with each note you play.
I sing a song with tears on my face,
wanting so badly to help you down the highway.
You made me want to change the world.
Now I want to scream,
but all I can do is cry.
with your heart on your sleeve smiling down on me.
