Foot Loose

‘I wrote this poem in response to my upcoming surgical amputation of the lower half of my left leg (4th June 2015)’

Let’s not get off on the wrong foot
I may well now have one foot in the grave
And straight after surgery I could have actually
Put my foot in my mouth

I intend to put my best foot forward
Not like I have much of a choice
If the shoe fits, I won’t need a pair
I will however need your support

You will have to wait on me hand and foot
Lets make sure we get off on the right foot
You will have to ensure that the shoe is on the other foot
If need be I will have to put my foot down

Don’t worry about your personal expenses
I am more than able to foot the bill
Since the surgery I have had a foot in both camps
Unfortunately its been the same foot

The surgery had to be done. I was dead on my feet
And rather than being six foot under I have landed on my foot
Didn’t get my foot wet, didn’t get cold foot
I can no longer jump in with both feet

I am just going to have to learn to think on my foot
And not allow life to sweep me of my foot
Keep my foot firmly on the ground
Relax and put my foot up

Sings:

Foot loose, foot loose, slice of your left hand shoes
Ooh wee,……………….
