Silence
Silence,
As you see it,
Is betrayal.
I am abruptly the
Perpetrator of
A heinous lie
That will end this turbulent affair.
Or silence may be
My limp confession
Of infidelity.
Silence
Can be anything
You need it to be.
Silence is adept
At deception.
Sometimes the tenuous
Calm
Before the venomous
Storm.
As you see it,
Is betrayal.
I am abruptly the
Perpetrator of
A heinous lie
That will end this turbulent affair.
Or silence may be
My limp confession
Of infidelity.
Silence
Can be anything
You need it to be.
Silence is adept
At deception.
Sometimes the tenuous
Calm
Before the venomous
Storm.

This sounds to me like your facing an accuser, someone who's interpreting your silence as guilt or, yes, a confession. He's pointing his finger at you as the destroyer responsible for ending that "turbulent affair." The silence could be a symptom of being fed up when reasoning and sense no longer work. Dealing with an irrational mind and a multitude of destructive fantasies and fabrications. Silence could also mean patience, and if that runs out you might be tempted to scream, not in fear but in rage. "Sometimes the tenuous / Calm / Before the venomous / Storm." Just don't let the silence turn to violence. Very strong work, Virginia. Extremely well worded and constructed, particularly that last stanza. Excellent.

Re: Silence
I Absolutely agree with
Crow, somehow i think u are innocent in all this treachery but are always looked upon as the striker. I am truly fascinated by the way you wrote this ink and feel a certain connection with the total poem. Silence is and can be, the loudest sound!!
Well done Virginia!

Well, this poem isn't very silent, that is for sure! It is true, trust is important, and so is communication. This is a powerful, and if I read correctly, angry poem. Well written as usual, with strong sweeping lines and flow. You are talented to convey your feelings in words. Very talented. I hope whoever has crossed you understands how you feel and didn't mean any of the implications this poem assumes. I know not everybody handles the thoughts in their own heads well when there are gaps just sitting there, taunting to be filled by a fucked up mind...

I know that some people are uncomfortable
with silence, but I've nothing to say to them...
this is a really good poem...

mightier than the shout, maybe, in the ultimate desolation of the storm...

This has dark undertones. I hazard a guess that its a confessional via silence (well, you kinda said it). But, as you end the poem, something is brewing. Maybe that is what you need, but as they say, it will get ugly before it gets pretty. Brave the storm. Another well written and intimate portrait VP.
I personally find silence to be multi-faceted and contextual. When I seek a response and I receive silence, I interpret it as being ignored. But then, I can sit with someone in a harmonious silence.
