What Happened To Forever?
What happened to forever?
What happened to the promises you made?
Did you actually love me?
Did you really see the feelings I saw?
I thought you felt the same…
I was wrong;
you were imprecise of your intentions.
Words you whispered in my ear,
altered my perception serving only to aid you in your deception,
I’m at the brink of tears,
and I need some help before my heart tears.
With my torn heart in my hands,
I am mute, but I will speak;
I saw it coming though I was blind.
I wish I could tell you how I really feel,
but I never was really good with words;
but you were, your words promised me the world,
You promised you'd forever be there but now I see those were just words pulled from thin air. Now I sit here alone,
with tears welling up then pouring from my eyes as I plunge to my knees,
shouting to the skies

You will learn as you grow that letting go alleviates the continuing pain of holding on. Moments change; people change; feelings change. One should not promise a future or feeling they cannot control. They should only promise this moment of truth.
Who is to say your former lover didn't truly love you at the time they professed it? Do you choose who you love? Do they? Life is learning. Learn to realize the moment of truth and nothing beyond. Then every choice you make will be based on the knowledge of now, and there will be no more blame on another - only acceptance of your own personal choices stemming from the knowing. But be warned, as Solomon himself once said, with much wisdom comes much sorrow.
The comfort is the beauty within that sorrow.
