Shotgun Solutions
Option One:
Just sit here for now, waiting
Facing the door
My double-barreled baby cradled in my lap
Fully loaded for the arrival of my enemies
Option Two:
Stick the barrel under my chin
Considering the level of relief
The sweet oblivion if I pull the trigger
Not giving a fuck about the mess I leave behind
Option Three:
Smashing the stock against the doorframe
Hammering the barrel until it cracks, flattens
Then dropping it in the dumpster
The face of my Muse smiling down from the clouds
I choose Option Three, deciding to stick around for awhile.
My enemies will go down in a hail of words.
And my Muse will reward me, licking my ear.
Apparently glad that I'm still here.

Always choose life. Death isn't an option, it is inevitable, and that particular choice is only for a limited time.
Peace is also a choice for life, because choosing death for somebody else is still choosing death. The argument for life is always the same; it extends the ability to keep making choices.
Great write Crowfly.

I used to be a gun lover, but I got rid of my 357 years ago. I still kind of miss it, home security and all. I'm just not the kind of person who should have one. Thank you Devlin! I'm still fully loaded.

I like it. It has a very brutal feel. The descriptions are vivid and the fable attached to it is eye-opening.

i wonder if our heads are in the same space lately, crow.
this piece has a slight novel feel with the options, but all three are grim and and definitely not funny. well done.

Thanks Minerva. I did intend some black comedy, but I'm twisted and should probably pay more attention to the effect my words might have. I've learned to do that on a day-to-day basis, and I am in therapy. But there are moments...

but what is the point of poetry if not to let our emotions and thoughts spill onto the page? poetry/writing is the one mistress who allows such indulgence. without caring what others think of us, and/or project onto our words. do not guard your words here, crow. at least, that is my opinion.

You're killing me here, Crow. Cringed as I read...just the thought that this might be serious, that you might mean it tears me up. Loves to you...

Thanks so much for caring Virginia. This is by no means serious at this point. There was a time in my life when I did consider the upshot in stanza two, but that put me on 72 hour hold and convinced me to never try again. So for me there's no longer any choice. I'm here to stay and bug the hell out of you.

A hail of words against your enemies? Be careful not to get caught. The judge may like wise throw the book at you.

Wow this one is powerful! Had me on the edge of my seat! For a moment I wanted to pick option two for myself. But I think I just had to much to drink. Good thing I have no guns only swords! Either way great piece! I think option 3 was the best. Even though option 1 is good for be ready for. Very creative !
