I cannot save you
You are like a butterfly
with beautiful multi-colored wings,
Large and rare
Perching with thin needle-legs
on the palm of my hand
How fiercely I fight off the urge
to squeeze every ounce of your glorious beauty
with my hands
That perhaps it will caress my skin
as it does my sight
But I know how fragile your body is
I know more;
your beauty comes with a price;
Sadness
My dear, if only my being was gentler
And yours tougher
I would hug you tight,
and tighter
Till that despicable sadness leaves your body
Instead, I admire your beauty
Hour upon hour
And pray a butterfly comes
To fly with you
Away
with beautiful multi-colored wings,
Large and rare
Perching with thin needle-legs
on the palm of my hand
How fiercely I fight off the urge
to squeeze every ounce of your glorious beauty
with my hands
That perhaps it will caress my skin
as it does my sight
But I know how fragile your body is
I know more;
your beauty comes with a price;
Sadness
My dear, if only my being was gentler
And yours tougher
I would hug you tight,
and tighter
Till that despicable sadness leaves your body
Instead, I admire your beauty
Hour upon hour
And pray a butterfly comes
To fly with you
Away
