Reflecting Rays of Sunlight
Shinning bright and brilliant,
A flame so enormous and consuming;
You are the sun
That gives light to all those around
Especially me, the moon.
I can only reflect
Your rays of intensity,
Only a dim glow
Seen as a small, pale circle
And sometimes less.
Though I can’t say I mind
As I’m nothing without you anyway.
Just a dark sphere of rock
Without you there to illuminate me.
Hidden in amongst stars,
Craving your warmth;
I’m content being the one
Noticed only in your shadow,
In your absence,
And only for a little while
Before you rise up and
Take the spotlight once again.
A flame so enormous and consuming;
You are the sun
That gives light to all those around
Especially me, the moon.
I can only reflect
Your rays of intensity,
Only a dim glow
Seen as a small, pale circle
And sometimes less.
Though I can’t say I mind
As I’m nothing without you anyway.
Just a dark sphere of rock
Without you there to illuminate me.
Hidden in amongst stars,
Craving your warmth;
I’m content being the one
Noticed only in your shadow,
In your absence,
And only for a little while
Before you rise up and
Take the spotlight once again.
