they say Lucifer was an angel once

You: “You’re a godsend”
Me:  “You’re like the devil in my veins”

Screw fate
let this be an opportunity
to let loneliness fuck us
from the inside

I was dead before I met you
and I’m dead now that you’re gone

I wasn’t born to feel the brand
of your hands on my skin
tattooing through the layers
of scar tissue I’ve been wearing
like badges of honour

I’m the child science wouldn’t let die
and have stolen the breath
of those more worthy of this world

It’s easy to forget I’m alive
that a heart beats somewhere
deep inside  this silence
I don’t speak

I’m tired of your never ending suicide
I’m tired of this cage you’ve left me in

I’m tired of the way lonely slips
through my brain chemistry
and turns my blood to ice crystals
that scream your name in the dark
