Tomorrow

The learning tree gives way           
        too unproven  
its branches shriveled       
with scornful gazes

Bending, penitent to the chain
pelted with black ash      
kneels before the newborn
screams and scattered tongues trembling
infernal in the wake of aftermath. 

Forced to the ground      
drowned by throttled cries,     
wonders where the unseen      
swarms of shook birds              
                   will thrive.
