Values
There's an empty old house in Bulgaria
at the foot of the mountains,
near a European fault line.
It has large windows and a green porch.
A dream going cheap
for the same price as my beat-up VW
or half a British holiday.
With no immediate neighbours,
it comes with its own land
complete with fruit trees
and outbuildings.
There's space
to grow things--
keep a donkey
and oh,
there's a well as well
I could learn the language
embrace the community
maybe find some answers
I can't find
where my life is today.

A strange and powerful little poem. The use of that little house in Bulgaria as a symbol was really quite inspired. And the last line was... well, just stunning. I look forward to reading your other work.

If only running away to some place new would solve all of our problems.... We'd all be marathon runners for the rest of our lives, wouldn't we? Maybe we are if only in our heads.
