World War I 100th anniversary
The one to end all other ones
When chivalry fell to industry
Where from the skies death rained
From Zeppelins and aero planes
When thousands died from chemicals
And many thousands more
Where ripped by flying shrapnel
No war was like this before
And no wars would ever
Be the same, hence forth

I will just add that Kubrick film is amazing! I always found WW2 to be more of an "interesting" war, but completely different from WW1 - technologically speaking.

The War to end all wars was the dawn of industrialized killing. WWII was that killing industry in full throttle.

I never seen my maternal grandfather
and my paternal grandfather got shot twice
before he was sent home both times on the
front line he never lived very long but I
do remember him vaguely yeah war
I can think of war and get puzzled by how
did they sucker the soldiers in so easy
but its still happening its the only job
a young man can get except to be a cop

ww1 - a war so full of war crimes it would be hard to prosecute so many guilty parties - very, very sad :-(
