Sometimes I Miss You
First loves burn the brightest
White hot flames in the heart
They're the hardest to quench
The hardest to drench
Even after a salty rainfall
It's hard to pinpoint yourself
Where you stand within
Because the mind knows
The stench of reality
But the heart sees the sweetness beneath
For although I know the insanity
The madness that drove me away
I still remember the good things
The silly parts that made me stay
How you understood my brokenness
Because yours was even darker than mine
Because of this, sometimes I miss you
But that's a fleeting idea I don't want to try
It's bazaar to be like strangers now
When in reality, I know everything you are
Inside and out, everything in between
Every little quirk that once brought me to my knees
Even now after reading through old poems
I can't regret a damn thing
I'm glad to have shared that chapter of my life
With a beautiful man like you
White hot flames in the heart
They're the hardest to quench
The hardest to drench
Even after a salty rainfall
It's hard to pinpoint yourself
Where you stand within
Because the mind knows
The stench of reality
But the heart sees the sweetness beneath
For although I know the insanity
The madness that drove me away
I still remember the good things
The silly parts that made me stay
How you understood my brokenness
Because yours was even darker than mine
Because of this, sometimes I miss you
But that's a fleeting idea I don't want to try
It's bazaar to be like strangers now
When in reality, I know everything you are
Inside and out, everything in between
Every little quirk that once brought me to my knees
Even now after reading through old poems
