Picking Flowers

Picking flowers from the garden
After a long day of mowing the lawn
I take a blue one to match her earrings
A yellow one to match that top
One red rose to complement those full lips;
Fighting off the bees to get that one…
Not sure why she likes flowers so much
They do die rather quickly
Maybe it’s the way they smell? They do have a lovely scent
Maybe because of the beauty in the delicacy?
There is tenderness in something so fragile
Could be the reminder of a nice relaxing day
Yes that could be it, I guess…
But I think it might be more the thought
That moment she realizes I had nothing else on my mind..
Nothing else, but picking flowers for my love
