Our Wilting Lilies
‘Do these grapes
taste sour to you
at all?’
Like the lily
who has seen
itself die
after wilting…
just to taste water
at the moment
it was ready
to give up.
Take note of how
your feet follow each other
without thinking:
we are capable
of being beautiful...
It is only forgetfulness
that snatches the flesh
from around our throats.
I will not bleed
like a slit wrist.
Instead I watch
essence pour
from the vessel
at the hands
of real killers.
My time is not short
it is desperate...
lost.
Why try to fail?
Who are you?
What do you want from me?
taste sour to you
at all?’
Like the lily
who has seen
itself die
after wilting…
just to taste water
at the moment
it was ready
to give up.
Take note of how
your feet follow each other
without thinking:
we are capable
of being beautiful...
It is only forgetfulness
that snatches the flesh
from around our throats.
I will not bleed
like a slit wrist.
Instead I watch
essence pour
from the vessel
at the hands
of real killers.
My time is not short
it is desperate...
lost.
Why try to fail?
Who are you?
What do you want from me?
