Waking
Silence interrupted
By soft sighs
Of cars passing by
On the highway
Outside
My window
The stars know
But they don't show,
Hiding beyond the haze,
Withholding their praise
As the night becomes day
In increments
Like sediment
Or sentiment,
A condiment
For the older generation,
A middle age nation
Now sleeping
After heaping
Spoonfuls of weeping
Over steeping
Anxiety
Until over thinking
Wakes me
To the silence
Of cars passing by
By soft sighs
Of cars passing by
On the highway
Outside
My window
The stars know
But they don't show,
Hiding beyond the haze,
Withholding their praise
As the night becomes day
In increments
Like sediment
Or sentiment,
A condiment
For the older generation,
A middle age nation
Now sleeping
After heaping
Spoonfuls of weeping
Over steeping
Anxiety
Until over thinking
Wakes me
To the silence
Of cars passing by
