Recovery
She called me yesterday
asking for money
and I gave her
the numbers
on my piece of plastic.
She told me
she'd pay me back
I told her not to worry
the money was for a good cause:
recovery.
But not for her,
she's doing fine
she did her time
changing sheets
every night.
It's for a group
she works out with
to support each other
as a group of friends
healing.
And if I can help
make it easier
for her to help
somebody else
I want to
Call it a version
of survivors guilt
but I never felt
like I made a difference
in her recovery
I was never enough
until she was enough
and wanted to try
but not until she died
and recovered.
