How To Find Your Happiness
If you would care to listen I will lend you
some advice on how to find your happiness
surely you know life doesn't come twice
live by rules in your life you will be blessed
always try to do your best at anything you do
the wise men say moderation is a rule to live by
when it comes to your needs and your desires
nothing in excess don't stay drunk or stoned
there are fools in this world and wise people
choose your friends well they are hard to come by
be generous and thrifty gracious and polite
everything you do comes back to you in life
do not let no one use you and don't use anyone
there are questions and answers and reasons
in everything so always look and wonder why
something is or is not or may be
don't let nothing steal your greatest moment
from you and that is the chance to be yourself
you will never be the first to learn all there
is to know about life so don't try
never forget always be yourself nothing in excess
try to do your best at everything you choose to do
don't trust anyone but yourself and don't depend
on anyone and you will find your happiness

You write 'don't trust anyone but yourself ... you will find your happiness': Only one counter example is required to void a rule like this. I am most fulfilled and rich with joy when I can reach the point in a relationship where I can trust and depend.
I can understand how a principle like that could arise, though. Many people have suffered because of trust, been hurt because they cared for, and it can seem that the only rational way to settle after these experiences is to conclude that happiness is exclusively attained outside of trust and dependence. This may be your experience thus far in life. I would like to encourage you that, though the ones who can be trusted may be rare, they do exist, and that sort of mutual alliance can be so much more than what you seem to call 'happiness'.

I wrote this in prison 20 ago it took
years and different versions to get this
the subject of trust in prison is serious
and in life too
thanks i have always liked this poem
i have written several poems on happiness
like love its illusive you have to perserve it
