Susan loved the Summer

As Susan's smiling face embraced the summer breeze,
she leaned against a tree and waited patiently.
Susan knew that moments as serene as these, were few
and far between and Susan tried not to miss or dismiss these moments hastefully.

So Susan sat until she was satisfied with summer's
splendid splash of scenery.
Then up she got, and on she walked admiring the sunset
and all the gorgeous greenery.

Susan walked until her toes were tangled in the sand,
then she sat and pondered all she'd seen.
Neither sad nor satisfied, Susan's mind wandered to all the
places she had not yet been.

Wide open eyes roamed the land eagerly, as she
assessed her own ambitions.
Susan focused on all of life's possibilities,
instead of dwelling on
the dreams that never made fruition.

Lost in thought, Susan found herself surprised by someone shouting,
“Listen here, the end is near, live in fear!” down the beach.
But Susan knew, though she may be forgotten tomorrow,
today was important, and Susan practised what she preached.

Susan knew each day she was alive was one day closer to
demise, so Susan lived to fill desires instead of decaying
in the basement watching time pass.
Susan was a dreamer, a sweetheart and a schemer,
who took the time to smell the roses, and watch summer sunsets
from the tall grass.
