Words!

I’ve said a word that caused some hurt
It came out of my mouth for what that’s worth

Now I’m sad and mad at myself
For not thinking through before I did yelp

How can you ever take back a word
Saying sorry helps but seems absurd

Trying to explain why I said such a thing
Makes it worse like unwinding a string

So I guess rather than talking it out
I need to show that’s not what I’m about

Actions are supposed to speak louder than words
Love and time I hope will be my reward

And back together we will be after this passes
Because the wrong word can make us look like asses
