Nashville

Sitting outside on a Tuesday night
smoking on the porch talking about life
and those songs that we just can't turn off

The stars look nice, the weathers even better
I start to think it's cool we're together
then his next five words sent me to hell

When he said, "honey I'm moving to Nashville.

Because this band he represents
has a three story house, a room with no rent
so he can travel free like he always wanted

Live his life like an outlaw for awhile
buy a few drinks and maybe a smile
I wonder if he'll think about the girl he left

When he said "honey, I'm moving to Nashville"

Back in the moment, my mouth kinda open
I said the right words or I was hoping
I didn't want to be selfish like a kid

After all no promises were made
his life had lemons, I was his lemonade
tried my best not to be sour that day

When he said, "Honey, I'm moving to Nashville."

Drinking inside on a Tuesday night
two random people met for the first time
talking about those songs they just can't turn off

Shooting the shit & shooting pool
he wanted her to think he was cool
so he told her this plan he had in the well

He said, "I'd like to move to Nashville."
