Uncle

The beat heard by my ears
Touched the core of my own percussionist
A dream left out to dry
Found life within another
Where jealousy seemed logical
Only the magic of her majesty ensued
The keeper of the stars
And his symphonic beats
The ones heard round the world

A five letter word I dreamt of knowing
Became another I can't wait to meet
My life
Forever changed by five little fingers
I stand strong and proud to greet

So I'll glance upon the windowsill
to a dream so safely kept
Admire the beauty of its view
but lay it to rest [for now]
with her first waking breath
Tiny little hands
changed the drumming of my band
The moment I heard life's percussion
