Going Down

I don't know when I got so cold, so old & cynical
I left my faith in churches & synagogues looking for God
with a light shined on me I said I finally got caught
my love of Idols, worship of the sun & my fraud heart
so crucify it all on a hill, & fire at will
I never stood a chance cause I loved to dance with the devil

It's not as bad going down as you'd think
there's something to be said for it
trouble has its ways and there's always hell to pay
but it's not as bad going down as you'd think

Stole Advil cause my head hurts like hell in the morning light
I'm in the phase of remembering & forgetting last night
caught between what I don't want to know & what I really should
I remember telling you someday I'd do what I could
to better myself, to get some help, & kick these habits
but I ran away & seized the day & a pack of cigarettes

It's not as bad going down as you'd think
there's something to be said for it
trouble has its ways and there's always hell to pay
but it's not as bad going down as you'd think

Sign of the cross, sign of the lost, I'm not judging I swear
I'm just the same trying to name all that I don't know
I'm cut from cloth that's cheap but pretty fucking honest
I've done my crimes, I'll take my time, and whatever's next

It's not as bad going down as you'd think
there's something to be said for it
trouble has its ways and there's always hell to pay
but it's not as bad going down as you'd think

I never stood a chance cause I loved to dance with the devil
