Daddy

I loved you,
But you never cared.
It broke my heart,
You would've rather drank beer.

I needed you,
But for so long you weren't here.
You barely know me at all,
Doesn't that explain my tears?

This distance is deadly
Between father and daughter,
But you can't pick your family,
So I don't get to choose another.

You never understood me,
You didnt bother to try.
When you were drunk you'd get angry,
And that's why I would hide.

You obviously can't comprehend
The stress it's been causing me,
I wish I could wake up
From this reoccurring dream.

Because every days the same,
Come home and have a beer,
But that beer turns into shots,
And then your Give A Fuck disappears.

Dad, I'll say it again,
I love you a lot,
But if you need my around,
This cycle has to stop.

I'm not your friend, I'm your daughter,
So I'll be honest when I warn,
Bruise me one more fucking time,
I'll be gone by the morning.
