Black Flag

Each movement begins
with a single sentence
and that sentence begins
with a single pen.

In a world where it's easier to use
a gun than your own voice,
pens are dangerous.
Pens create words
and words educate minds
and educated minds change hearts.

Change is the most powerful weapon
because you can't kill it with bullets.
Even with hearts blacker than the ink,
Man cannot destroy it.

Change is progress
Sometimes the bones of the captains of the ship called progress reinforce the hull together.
The permanent grin that time has etched upon their faces graces the flag flown high and black.
The wind cupped in the sturdy hands of the sails is the names
the whispered syllables and phonics
that make up the names of those whose bones cry trapped under the rubble of stagnant thought and live on the tips of our lips.
THIS ship is coming.
It's well built and will not die  
you can't sink it.

It's name means war on
tyranny
complacency
it means LISTEN TO ME
I have a voice too!
So....when a little girl is asked her name
on her first day of school
let our blood vibrate as a little girl states
