Macabre Lullaby
There is a songbird that all men fear
From a melodious sound to a crippling tear
Surprises of the worst design
Echo forever in the weakened mind
As if all of life's meanings
Are lost in a brutal beating
And the nurturing air we breath
Turns to fire begging for reprieve
A bitter betrayal of all you've held dear
Souls succumb to their worst childhood fear
A lonely momento to a time long gone
Haunted by the knowledge that the world has moved on
Alone in a vacuum of solitude
All that's left is a bitter and sober mood
Like the homeless man on the street
Barron of hope in my tortured retreat
Broken is my heart, aching my soul
Pleading for the songbirds song to be untold
Time is said to heal all wounds
Yet some hurts so deep it can't be assumed
As the songbird sings it macabre lullaby
I look up towards the sky
Remembering our final goodbye
From a melodious sound to a crippling tear
Surprises of the worst design
Echo forever in the weakened mind
As if all of life's meanings
Are lost in a brutal beating
And the nurturing air we breath
Turns to fire begging for reprieve
A bitter betrayal of all you've held dear
Souls succumb to their worst childhood fear
A lonely momento to a time long gone
Haunted by the knowledge that the world has moved on
Alone in a vacuum of solitude
All that's left is a bitter and sober mood
Like the homeless man on the street
Barron of hope in my tortured retreat
Broken is my heart, aching my soul
Pleading for the songbirds song to be untold
Time is said to heal all wounds
Yet some hurts so deep it can't be assumed
As the songbird sings it macabre lullaby
I look up towards the sky
Remembering our final goodbye
