A toast to ignorance

Open yours eyes to the world
I know what you see
A vision of place warm, inviting and free

For you sorrow and grief
Despair and loneliness
Are only words to describe fleeting moments

You are drunk
Intoxicated with delusions
You've been fed your whole life

Wave at your neighbors
Flash your fabricateed smiles
Pretend your life matters beyond your front door

Who am I to say these things?
For me to call you drunk than I am sober
And truly I am sober if it means seeing the fractures in this world

The double lines that you can't see past
Show me your truth
A hollow existence begging for a hollow point conclusion

Sorrow, grief, despair
Are not fleeting moments at all
They are the only glimpse of truth you may ever know

For your sake I hope your ignorance is bliss
Because what you see and feel in your moments of lucidity
Are the very air I breath

Each agonizing breath a reminder
Of how desperately I need a drink
