A Sticky Situation

at both ends my wrapper is twisted tight.
i sit confined in the bag i feel no delight.
but wait! there is a light!
im surrounded by a hand, i fly like a kite.
i see a man and i close my eyes in fright.

he began unwrppaing my jolly rancher wrapper starting at one end,
there is absolutely nothing i can do to defend.
i sit, wrapper wide open knowing it can not be mend.

he hesitates to unroll the wrapping and thinks twice.
"eat now or eat later? i need advice"
my sweet aura has the tendency to entice.

finally he unwraps me and holds me in the palm of his hand.
"put me down!" i do demand.
he didn't hear me or if he did he did not heed my command.
thoughts of despair and death expand.

he sets me down next to the bag, completely unwrapped and free.
this action i did not forsee.
he saw my pain. he recognized my agony.
now i rejoice and make this day a jubilee.
i am free to be me and me i will be.
