To Old St Pauls Episcopalian Church, Edinburgh.

Marx said " religion is the sigh of the oppressed,
the opiate of the masses"
now who is Christianity for? the people or
the ruling classes?

The  meek shall inherit the earth
no, literally the dirt
Organised religion only keeps you
poor and oppressed
it only dulls the pain of feeling
 hurt.

 All these churches
promising pie in the sky
but when confronting
real injustice
they're the first
to turn a blind eye.

It's easier for a rich man
to get through the needle's eye
but of course it's easy for the rich
 to be saved
because
there's nothing their money
 can't buy!

In Edinburgh,
Among those turning the cheek
to the poor, the hungry and the weak
is Old St Paul's
who blather empty words
and are on the wrong side of morality
 when the hammer falls.

The Rector of Old St Paul's
- Ian Paton,
controls congregations minds
while the churches
 pockets' fatten.

With people in the close outside,
they're asked "What would Jesus Do"
told to refuse to feed the homeless
 and let them starve
that's the Christian message
I musta forgot that one!
who knew! , who knew!

Gay marriage is now legal
but capitulating to
feardie homophobes,
the state says churches must opt in.
So despite their accepting image
the Episcopalian church
 must think same sex marriage
 is a terrible godless sin.

The Episcopalian church's
The law of Canons says
 the holy sacrament
is between a woman and a man,
they pay lip service to equality
but asked "will you perform our service?"
They say ,"... we don't think we can".

Leo Tolstoy
 now there's a Christian
I can (half) admire
Hypocrisy of church and state,
he put them both
to the fire.

Churches run like
 Leninist
political parties
while those "meek" are dulled
like sheep
offered up baubles
and smarties.

Old St Paul's
an aw ay the Episcopalian church,
Undemocratic
  home of the hypocrite!
abolish yersel!
and be done
 wi it!
