Lost in Knowing
In knowing you, I have lost myself
All the words that sit between us
In a silence shaped by circumstance
You in your desire for a lover
Me in my need for a lover’s desire
Fenced apart in mutual attraction
Febrile and delirious,
My thoughts in your presence
Are never far from making you blush
I want to taste your lips
Succour on bittersweet passing
Transient and provisional in my offering
To possess your body
Make my own assessment
Of beauty’s shape
Let me fill the spaces
In that quiet, thick and charged
Even if just fleetingly
So that I know what I am missing
All the words that sit between us
In a silence shaped by circumstance
You in your desire for a lover
Me in my need for a lover’s desire
Fenced apart in mutual attraction
Febrile and delirious,
My thoughts in your presence
Are never far from making you blush
I want to taste your lips
Succour on bittersweet passing
Transient and provisional in my offering
To possess your body
Make my own assessment
Of beauty’s shape
Let me fill the spaces
In that quiet, thick and charged
Even if just fleetingly
So that I know what I am missing
