Having Hope Even as the End of Life is Approaching

Darkness falls like a negative answer to prayer,
As if night means "no."
But I look for light in the sky,
Oh starlight, you're my friend.
I connect the stars as though they were dots
that were meant to be connected.
I try different ones in different areas of the sky,
Until I can form the letter "Y",
Which I then take to stand for the word "Yes."

Thereby I overrule the "no" of night!
Yes, I am becoming hopeful,
Daring to have hope that
God will grant my request after all!

But what should my prayer be?
(I'm supposed to have the prayer first,
But since I'm making this up as I go along,
I guess it's OK to think of one now, instead.)

How about this idea:
"Dear God, would you help me find a wife before I die?"
(I'm closing in on 70.)
I'm afraid she is going to have to find me instead.
But at least I can make an effort by praying for a wife,
Something I have neglected to do (wholeheartedly) til now.

Well, I'll be darned,
Writing this poem has proven to be a bit theraputic.
