Breathe
Blindfold and gag me
So I cannot speak of or see
Of the words, pages, stories
That taught my lifeless mind to breathe.
Drain my wandering thoughts
Like sap from a maple tree
Or blood from the throat of cattle;
Both empty vessels robbed of something sweet.
Heard the youth to what you desire
As they are easily molded like trusting sheep.
You are not a shepherd, but a wolf
Hungry to implement only what you believe.
Do not trust the invisible voice telling how to think.
Let the world toss you about in a sea
Of peaceful waves pure and pristine,
And a raging storm, dark and obscene.
Light exists with dark
And blissful balance lies in between.
Open your mind like a window
And allow yourself to breathe.
So I cannot speak of or see
Of the words, pages, stories
That taught my lifeless mind to breathe.
Drain my wandering thoughts
Like sap from a maple tree
Or blood from the throat of cattle;
