Black Rose

An eerie black rose blooms by the brook
Glowing ebony in the moonlight
This single black rose found a haven
With her ashen petals bathed in the night

Such a fine little black rose!
Like onyx on a grand gold ring
Risen from rust and sand
With her glorious artful offering

I watch attentively, the fine black rose
She scribes her impressions on my heart
With her thorns of trials past
And I watch her blossom from afar
