Darkness
Darkness
The light switch clicks off.
Darkness seeps around the edges of my bed.
Slowly overcoming my jaded body.
Darkness.
Grasping me gently.
Slowly cradles me to sleep.
The warmth of my comforter, nuzzled to my neck.
The soft sound of Frank Sinatra,
echoing through the cold, dark, room.
My eyes slowly wane together.
The last glimpse of reality, now in the past.
My mind, lost between time and space.
Searching for unobtainable answers.
Reaching for inaccessible stars.
Falling just short.
Into the deep, dark abyss.
My body slowly being overcome,
Grasped ever so gently.
Cradled to sleep.
